A Passion for Pets
There have been many dogs throughout my life, but none quite like Mocha. She’s my heart dog and it took me a long time to find her. Truthfully, I’m a little bit obsessed. She follows me everywhere and does anything I ask. I’ve always had great dogs but this dog has done a number on me! Our bond has made me realize how precious these animals are for the short time they’re part of our families.
They’re a part of our lives but we are their lives.
I’m Mark Hughes and I’m a Professional Photographer
I’m an accredited photographer in a variety of categories through the Professional Photographers of Canada. I’m pretty versatile in what I can shoot and I’ve won awards as a photographer but my main love is pet portraits. I love capturing those moments that make memories. I’ve photographed thousands of dogs and cats in my career and I always find a way to get a great shot.
I’ve also spent time volunteering for many organizations. One of my most rewarding positions is photographing dogs and cats for the Greater Edmonton Animal Rescue Society, which I’ve been involved with since 2014. My images are used for adoption profiles as well as marketing and promotional materials.
I’ve also regularly contributed technical articles on photography to Digital Photography School, one of the largest photography resource sites on the internet and I teach photography on a variety of topics.
When I’m not capturing fun photos of your furry friends, I’m co-hosting a podcast that I do with a great friend of mine. We talk about things like bears, AI slop, drugs & mental health, 80s & 90s bands and so much more. The Connect2 Podcast is a mostly weekly podcast that has been going since 2021.
